more pics...

After seeing ARlington, we drove back across the Potomac to see the monuments. Parking was quite the nightmare. We drove around for quite a bit trying to find a place to park and then finally parked way far away from everything. I was so tired of walking because of Arlington. But we walked some more. We went to the Jefferson Memorial, which was undergoing construction. It was not too busy and it was nice to leisurely walk around the statue and into the gift shop.

You could see across the tidal basin to the White House and the Washington Monument. But I was in no shape to want to walk around the entire tidal basin to see the other monuments then. Chelsea was a little perturbed that there weren't any smashed penny machines around. That is what she wants to collect when we travel. She would have better luck at the museums later in the week. It was quite the impressive building with the statue of Jefferson that was so tall.
