the senior trip...
We had such a great time with Chantel in Washington DC. I loved spending time with just her and Paul and seeing her just having fun...sweaty fun but fun nonetheless. Seriously, they were having record highs out there..like in the high 90's and humidity that we're certainly not used to :) We left early on a Wednesday morning....barely catching our flight and having to dump our mousse, hairspray, vaseline, and sunscreen. We anticipated checking that bag on but we had to run to our gate and have to do a gate check with our big bags because we missed the cut-off time for bag check-in's by 5 minutes. Not a good way to start our trip ;) We flew to Atlanta then to Baltimore and then took the MARC train into DC. We didn't rent a car because we were just in the middle of everything...it worked out really nice. Paul was a little shocked at our hotel room but it was really exactly as I expected. Great location, inexpensive and old. LOL!
We found a sandwich shop close by for dinner then walked over to CVS for the stuff we had chucked at the airport. As we were leaving it started raining like crazy with scary lightening and thunder. It was absolutely amazing! Talk about a real thunder storm..they have them out there! We checked the weather online then decided that Thursday would be our big walking day. All the monuments and memorials because the high's were only in the high 80's. We woke up Thursday and got going. Oh my the humidity was stiffiling!
We walked to the WHite House first...but then couldn't get close to the front because there was an "event" going on and we would have to wait for a while. We walked along the ellipse and took pictures from there instead.
Then headed over to the Washington Monument.
Pictures of Paul and Chantel touching it. We heard people talking about how fast tickets go for the tours to the top and we decided not to even try for those. I was surprised at all the kids and teenagers on tours and trips. Lots of bright colored Tshirts all over the place.

Teresa,
What an awesome thing to do. I love that you just took Chantel and made it 'her' trip. Guess you'll be getting to do that 3 more times. Someday I'm going to go see all those sights with my own two eyes.
Congrats on getting your first one graduated. It's a bit scary, isn't it?
